In 1995, Mike Lin recognized a gap in the window treatment market. “No one else was fabricating blinds and shades locally,” he said.
Lin bought Sonic Blinds, then on Millersport Highway, with his wife, Ann Lin. They started with one employee. Now, located in a shopping plaza on Niagara Falls Boulevard, Sonic Blinds has 15 employees, including two full-time interior decorators and two full-time installers, a 2,000-square-foot showroom, and an adjoining 10,000-square-foot workshop.
With help from Ann, who serves as office manager, they continue to fulfill this part of the market. Every year, he and his team outfit hundreds of homes and businesses with a variety of custom blinds and shades. They also have a professional drapery workroom and a full-time seamstress to create custom draperies and top treatments.
