longtime family business can make your custom stone dreams come true

Katrina Hora, chief executive officer of Italian Marble & Granite, learned the business of high-quality stone at the knee of her father, Mark Zografos.

“I learned everything from templating to architecture design and grew to love the business,” said Hora, who also has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA.

Founded in 1986 by Pasquali DiLisio, Italian Marble & Granite started with a small team who dreamed of creating high-end custom stone projects. Zografos, who was part of that team, purchased the company in 1995. Two years away from retirement, he prepared for Hora to take the helm.

Western New York. It now boasts a 22,000-square-foot showroom and fabrication center and 25 employees who ensure that each residential and commercial client realizes their own dreams in granite, marble, quartz, porcelain, and more.

The company recently remodeled its showroom, which exhibits myriad ways of marrying exquisite form with functionality, including Dekton stairs, a granite island replete with wireless chargers, and porcelain counters with hidden cooktops.

“We source stone from all over the world,” Hora said. “Every few weeks, we receive fresh shipments, which means you’re always choosing from the latest trends and the finest materials.”

And Italian Marble & Granite offers the gamut of styles, materials, and price points.

Every job begins with a thorough conversation with a sales consultant to gauge the style, needs, and budget of each project.

“We try to make sure that the experience is the same for all clients — whether you have a $2 million home or a $200,000 home,” she said. “We realize it’s a huge investment, regardless of your budget.”

To complete a remodeling job, the company partners with Sierra Unlimited, Elite Design, Ace Interiors, and Hora Construction.

Hora encourages people to visit the showroom to see the endless possibilities of stone and meet Hora and her family, including her two young children and German shepherd and springer spaniel, who make regular appearances.

“We have a fun, relaxed atmosphere here,” Hora said. “We also have friendly and knowledgeable employees who care about the final result. We’re not here to hook you with a price. We’re here to take care of you.
