DESIGNNY 2026
Welcome to our 25th anniversary celebration of DesignNY!
This milestone brings gratitude and perspective. During the past quarter century, we have watched interior design trends and custom-built homes evolve, shift, convey and stir our imaginations in thoughtful and provocative ways. Continuously fascinating and fun, the remarkable people of our publication have made this journey possible. We are deeply grateful for this talented team of professionals, many of whom are with us still through these 25 years. Their creativity, expertise and dedication are the foundation of DesignNY. We are also thankful for the enthusiastic advertisers and industry partners who support us; we appreciate the guidance of the homeowners who generously open their doors and hearts to share their spaces. To our loyal readers, your curiosity and support sustain and encourage us. This magazine represents genuine collaboration and is a dream come true.
This anniversary edition celebrates the full spectrum of design today: illustrated craft, responsible stewardship and the enduring power of thoughtful creativity. In addition to what we visualize, design is how we best imagine, live, feel and care for the places we call home.
Within these pages, you will discover homes that honor the past while embracing the present. There is the reimagination of a mid-century modern residence for contemporary living, balancing nostalgia with comfort and convenience. A Buffalo home blends charming European influence with timeless, personal sophistication. A refreshed farmhouse celebrates its history with revitalized purpose. New construction, including a beautifully crafted barn, is designed to feel as though it has stood for generations — a true testament to intention and craftsmanship.
We look beyond the walls to the land. From rewilding projects to naturalized shorelines on Canandaigua Lake, homeowners are rethinking their stewardship, restoring wetlands, protecting waterways and creating landscapes that work with and respect nature. The results are profound: healthier ecosystems, richer experiences and a deeper connection to place.
Together, these stories reflect a shared philosophy: thoughtful design, whether architectural, interior, or environmental, shapes our spaces and our lives. We hope this issue of DesignNY inspires you to look closely, consider carefully, think intentionally, imagine the wonderful potential when innovation meets purpose and actively create your own dream home.
